The Talent Acquisition Manager leads Recruiting Excellence through Talent Attraction and Selection that will build skills capability for the organization and drive key results for the company. This role serves as a strategic thought partner to the business and is responsible for planning and developing proactive recruiting strategies to attract diverse talent and leverages internal/external systems and tools to drive hiring results. The Talent Acquisition Manager guides the Sourcing, Interviewing and Evaluation of internal and external candidates in addition to leading a team of Talent Acquisition Specialists at Michaels. This position partners closely with business leaders and cross-functional HR Partners to ensure a collaborative approach to talent planning, attraction and selection. This person contributes to our mission by delivering High Performing Team Members to dive business results.
Building & Planning Recruiting Strategies, Leading TA Specialist Team
• Develop creative approaches to support the Talent Acquisition Roadmap in identifying and attracting qualified, diverse, active and passive candidates for open positions and future opportunities.
• Identify and leverage the right internal/external systems and tools for referral generation, internet sourcing, multi-media advertising, social media, job fairs, college fairs, networking, community involvement/partnerships, third party assistance, etc.
• Oversee full lifecycle recruiting of top tier candidates including: sourcing, screening, interviewing, providing feedback/recommendations, and assisting the candidate through offer negotiations and acceptance.
• Lead Recruiter for Critical & Confidential leadership positions.
• Leverage Workday to maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on candidate pipelines and recruiting activities.
• Ensure outstanding candidate experiences throughout the interview, offer, and onboarding process.
• Learn from others: continually gather feedback from candidates and our interviewing team (including surveys and conversations) to iterate and improve.
• Partner and build strong relationships with business and HR leadership, hiring managers and talent acquisition team to determine business staffing needs and then develop and implement cost effective recruitment plans that minimize time-to-fill, optimize fit and retention and place top-quality, diverse candidates in open positions.
• Lead, coach and mentor the Michaels talent acquisition Specialist team. Ensure that talent acquisition specialists are executing all essential talent acquisition processes and procedures to ensure high caliber, diverse candidate sourcing and that the most qualified candidates are being selected for open positions in a timely manner.
• Review team performance and coaches weekly to ensure we are hitting all key talent acquisition metrics which includes time to fill.
• Provide counsel to hiring managers on matters pertinent to internal mobility and external hiring to ensure adherence to established company policies and procedures; and compliance with local, state and federal employment laws.
Reporting and Talent Planning
• Assess future hiring needs through proactive People Planning activities and understands key metrics to meet hiring goals. Build recruiting strategy to support.
• Manage TA Reporting activities and provides meaningful dashboard reporting and insights, communicates the Talent Acquisition story to business leaders.
Other
• Works on special HR related projects.
• Subject matter expert on the Talent Acquisition process.
• Leverage Employer Branding and proactively looks for innovative and new industry best practices around recruiting, interviewing, and sourcing to ensure we are hiring top talent and all candidates walk away from their experience with a positive image of the Michaels brand..
Minimum Education
• High School degree
Minimum Special Certifications Or Technical Skills
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Previous experience with an Applicant Tracking System; Workday preferred.
• Proven performance sourcing via LinkedIn
Minimum Type Of Experience The Job Requires
• 7+ years of demonstrated Talent Acquisition & Sourcing experience including the development and implementation of effective recruiting strategies to support hiring goals.
• Deep sourcing, interview, assessment and selection experience.
• Proven leader with track record for exceeding TA goals and objectives. High level of accountability and drive for results.
• Broad organizational knowledge of TA systems, legislative regulations and labor market trends.
• Passion for recruiting, with a desire to deliver a quality experience for every candidate.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational habits.
• Retail/Hospitality/Consumer Packaged Goods/similar industry preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree. Emphasis in Human Resources or related field preferred.

• Ability to utilize recruitment metrics and data analysis to enhance the full-cycle talent acquisition processes, procedures, and quality of diverse talent through developing and executing creative recruiting strategies from workforce planning to on-boarding for various division business functions.
