POSITION SUMMARY
Product Manager:
Accountable for the products assigned and will own the product roadmap, vision, and strategy for these products cradle to grave including budget guidance.
Lead the Cross Functional Product Team (CFPT) and sub-teams in product break-fix needs, constant maintenance, performance improvements, and delivering enhancements and new innovations that create long-term customer value.
Responsible for development and coaching of a small number of additional product managers:
Lead, manage, and develop product managers.
Inspire and motivate the Product Managers while providing strategic context necessary for them to lead empowered product teams.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conducting continuous product discovery, which is sustained practice of experimentation and customer conversations to inform product development decisions which is key to be acknowledged as a Voice of Customer (VOC) expert.
• Aligning with Commercial teams on product financial and strategic goals
• Knowing the product users, product operations, and connecting the two into clear product requirements; this includes an in-depth understanding of veterinary needs and best practices within animal hospitals.
• Monitoring product performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Providing ROI assessments for projects and understanding when to make tradeoffs in investing between projects and features.
• Bringing on-the-ground feedback into product backlog with long-term strategy in mind
• Putting emphasis on continuous improvement and prioritization
• Delivering on open items in product backlogs with planned release schedule
• Guiding empowerment of these CFPTs to make key decisions.
• Assigning team level Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
Working effectively with other functions within Zoetis which includes team building, facilitation, giving and receiving feedback, and promoting psychological safety.
Development and Coaching of Product Managers:
• Driving product vision and principles that keep the teams focused on the customer and serves as a common understanding of what the team is hoping to accomplish together.
• Building product strategy that leverages insights to help teams focus on which problems to solve by making tough choices on what's really important.
• Being product evangelist with constant communication of product vision and strategies throughout entire organization in recruiting, onboarding, 1:1 coaching, all-hands meetings, team lunches, and everything in between
• Coaching and training new Product Managers
• Sourcing, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, evaluating, promoting, and when necessary, replacing the colleagues on the team.
Assigning significant problems to solve (the team objectives) and ensuring they have the necessary strategic context to understand the why.
Other:
• Driving all facets of product experience in new product launches across global markets, supporting customer, colleague, and company preparation efforts, and helping transfer materials and expertise to the commercial and medical teams.
• Communicating regularly with Commercial, Medical, and Support teams on product update and deployment plans including creating documentation needed to assist with training and service.
• Tracking industry trends and the competitive landscape
• Working with a network of research veterinarians and/or experts in a variety of veterinary disciplines
• Setting expectations for frequent customer interactions by the product managers
• Emphasizing execution, including a cadence of accountability, and acting on lead measures, while keeping scorecards/dashboards where appropriate with the products
• Fostering a product culture where the teams understand the importance of continuous and rapid testing and learning; also, that great products are the result of true collaboration, continuous innovation, and motivated product teams.
Assisting the commercial teams to maintain our current customer base by improving the communications and constantly improving customers' product knowledge base.

The Product Lead works cross functionally with leaders from Commercial, ZTD (Zoetis Tech and Digital), GMS (Global Manufacturing and Supply, which includes Quality), VMRD (R&D, which includes Regulatory), and/or Legal to support the product teams to be successful and leads durable, cross-functional product teams as well.
Organizational RELATIONSHIPS
Financial Accountability
Accountable for business viability of product(s) including, but not limited to, revenue and costs to build, sell, and market products, operating within the laws of countries you sell in, holding up end in partnerships/agreements (if applicable), and fitting within the brand promise of the entire company's offerings. In addition, the product lead will support product managers in the budget planning process across the organization for the product(s) in the platform.
Supervision
Manage 2-5 product managers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience:
• 5+ years in Product Management, product development role or equivalent industry experience
• Proven ability with product leadership competencies: • Team development (single most important responsibility)

• Product culture
Education:
• BA/BS degree in scientific discipline or business
MBA, DVM, PhD or other advanced degree preferred, but not required.

This position could also require supporting vendor relationships and travel both domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
