The Opportunity
Location: in-office in Detroit, MI
Reporting to the Director of Forward Flow Business Line, this position will be responsible for monitoring key origination, portfolio and loss performance metrics to identify focal areas of risks and opportunities within Ally’s forward flow channel. The candidate will lead a team of analysts responsible for identifying trends and emerging risks, and developing proposals for strategic changes to forward flow partnerships . The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering results, must be an innovative and strategic thinker, willing to challenge status quo, can learn quickly, is self-motivated and detail oriented. The position is for a team leader capable of working collaboratively with key leaders across various matrix partners such as finance, pricing, treasury and other auto support teams – some exposure to external counterparties will be required.
The Work Itself
• Lead a team of analysts responsible for identifying ways to enhance originations strategy and improve portfolio performance, through advanced analytics of loan performance, loss assignment and risk trends.
• Perform detailed analysis to understand key drivers of portfolio performance, working with partner teams to understand impact of upstream processes and implement strategic changes, and assess impact of changes to performance expectations.
• Present analysis and corresponding proposed strategic actions to leadership and key stakeholders.
• Collaboratively work with business and operations partners to ensure alignment with Ally’s strategic imperatives.
• Maintain and continue to build out dynamic reporting suites that allow for end users to see trends and decipher actionable information.
• Manage priorities using sound control processes (daily/weekly/monthly) to effectively identify, assess and manage risk, including developing enhanced monitoring routines and tools to see around corners.
Skills
The Skills You Bring
• 5+ years of experience in analytics and people leadership, and knowledge of consumer financing industry. Prefer experience in a similar role focused on data/statistical analysis.
• Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; should be a critical thinker with strong attention to detail.
• A solid understanding and proficiency in various data analyticsprogramming languages, such as SQL, python, R, or similar tools for data analysis / visualization and portfolio segmentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present proposals and vision to Executive leadership through transformation of data into clear insights and compelling narratives.
• Ability to excel in a collaborative working environment with partners across various job functions and experience levels such as IT, Compliance, Legal, and Operations.
• Knowledge of statistics and quantitative models preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Economics or a similar discipline with quantitative focus, master’s degree preferred.
