Facebook vs Alto Pharmacy

Currently at amazon, debating between alto pharmacy and Facebook in Bay Area. Alto offer (level 4) 170K (+5% bonus) 20K signing bonus 10K options with ~$15 strike price, 5 year vesting, 1 year cliff Valued ~1B Facebook offer (E4) 170K base (+10% bonus) 50K signing bonus 350K in stocks, 4 year vesting, no cliff I really like what alto is doing and really like the hiring manager but concerned about what the equity will end up valuing. For Facebook, not sure about using hack (proprietary language) and how useful that will be in future positions. Also just concerns about going to another big company. Any thoughts or advice? Need to decide by tomorrow (7/14) #engineering #software #swe

Fb offer can go up to 400k stocks and 75k bonus. Idk if you still have time to negotiate. As far as FB goes, yes we use PHP/Hack but depending on the team there’s other languages like python for backend. If you’re coming in unallocated (without a team) then you can search for teams which don’t use hack if that bothers you that much. Also, FB looks good on resumes but since you already have Amazon that probably isn’t a big deal to you.

Gotcha. I am coming in unallocated but am primarily interested in a specific org. I’ve already talked with them and I have some connections in that org also

Might be a dumb question, but what does 10k options mean? Like options for 10k shares at 15 dollar strike?

Yeah

Seems low at a glance. So you'll get 2k shares per year since it vests over 5 years. For this offer to exceed FB, Alto needs to appreciate by $43.75 to $58.75 per share. That's around 4x the current $15 per share!

options seem outdated, ask them to convert to RSU instead lol

What? They convert to RSUs when they’re more stable
