What is the official definition of recession? How's it diff from today when I have lost 30% my NW with recent stock drops. How low can it go to call it a recession?

    It's a fall in GDP for 2 consecutive quarters. Stock prices of companies can be a contributing factor, but a market correction != Recession.

  • You need to have two consecutive quarters of declining growth or maybe it is negative growth to officially call it a recession

    Lol are you kidding. Employment is at all time high. Consumer spending and house buying etc are strong. How are you calling it a recession

  • Recession chances are not 0 at the moment. If it happens, it will happen because inflation doesn't come down and fed will have to aggressively hike. High interest rates are not good for companies especially SMBs and especially at a time when they are losing customers as high inflation. It is looking like it will happen start of next year but it should be very short lived as it is being caused artificially by fed to cut demand to tackle inflation. So recession happens (if it does), fed cuts rates and maybe does QE again, growth is back and recession over.
