I went through a round of interviews last year and received an offer as a L5 Customer Security Engineer. Unfortunately, I declined the offer because the difference in TC was too large of a delta. https://www.teamblind.com/post/EJqUZrFt?cid
The recruiter reached out to me two weeks ago and we spoke yesterday. They would like for me to re-interview for an L6 position and hope to meet my salary expectation. Out of the four interviews, I need to do two of them again (Role Related Knowledge and Googleyness & Leadership).
My concern with the changes Amazon has made and my new PCS, will Google meet my new TC?
AWS L6 Solution Architect (3 at AWS // 15 YOE)
Base 156,200 -> 203,100
TC 334,875 -> 371,745

Hmmm didn’t see that coming from GCP?
comments
But even then u will end up as L6 at google for next two years or so
Having counter offers in hand helps your case tremendously.
I’m on HC for Product and these numbers pop up regularly. We often look at counters, current TC, and cohort ; often basing an offer on placing your TC somewhere in the middle of the cohort’s range for that market.
In fact I recommend candidates to divert that conversation. It is also illegal and a bias within Google if a Google Recruiter asks for your current TC.
Also, if you reference a counter offer, you will need to provide supporting documentation such as an offer letter.
Last year they low balled me with their L5, but this year looks like they said L6 will be on cards . Their L6 is our L7.
And the range for GCP L6 is wide ( From 400 to 700)
