Can anyone verify the report that GCP is laying off its entire US Support Team?

There was a blind post from a Googler who was laid off a few days ago. The severance package is surprisingly quite generous TBH

Not the entire US GCP support team but definitely the majority. Also confirmed layoffs of APAC and EMEA folks. Seems to be affecting lower level (<=L3) support engineers as well as some L6 managers. Typical Google deal of 60 days to find a new role internally or else get 3 months pay severance and a polite fuck off.

Source: I personally know several affected people.

The majority? This is complete bull. If the majority of US GCP support has been laid off, who the fuck am I working with today? Lol. I'm talking to GCP support teams - none of these teams have been impacted. Did I just get lucky and happen to be working with the 'minority' that is unimpacted? I guess it's plausible, but none of these folks mention any impact to them or sister teams.

Why should they lay off? Why don’t they put the employees into other open roles within Google?

False info - nothing like that happening in core GCP Support. I heard that one of the smaller products might be affected though, which is a small part of support as whole.

This thread has created more confusion than clarifying things. Is it GCP support, Looker, or Workspace team?
