Not the entire US GCP support team but definitely the majority. Also confirmed layoffs of APAC and EMEA folks. Seems to be affecting lower level (<=L3) support engineers as well as some L6 managers. Typical Google deal of 60 days to find a new role internally or else get 3 months pay severance and a polite fuck off.

The majority? This is complete bull. If the majority of US GCP support has been laid off, who the fuck am I working with today? Lol. I'm talking to GCP support teams - none of these teams have been impacted. Did I just get lucky and happen to be working with the 'minority' that is unimpacted? I guess it's plausible, but none of these folks mention any impact to them or sister teams.
Do companies actually do that? At my job we have external positions open, but internally people have been asking for more internal/across group hiring.
False info - nothing like that happening in core GCP Support. I heard that one of the smaller products might be affected though, which is a small part of support as whole.
It seems I was wrong - there are people affected by this, mostly Looker and Workspace. So 'all US support' is a big stretch, but there is something happening
