How difficult is Square interview. i have heard it is different from other companies. Do they ask leetcode and do they ask system design. where would interview difficulty rank among Faang. Same difficulty as amazon or higher?

Square interviews are the most fun I’ve ever had being rejected

  • Greatest interview experience ever. They will kindly do pair coding with you for every coding session. They really mean that. So they will “help” you during the process. The System design question is told before interview.

I interviewed recently at square and had a pleasant experience. Like two sigma said, it's mostly pair programming and they don't ask crazy leetcode hard questions. The interviewers are very friendly and will give you enough context to reason through the problems. My system design interview didn't go well but the interviewer was *much* more senior than me, so I think there was some bias there. Happy to answer any other questions you have about the process.

Square interview was my favorite I've ever had. Pair programming for me was adding features to my Android app I did instead of phone interview.

Can you please shed more light on your Android interview there? I'm in the same position and can really use some pointers? Which location was that? What all would you suggest preparing for if time wasn't of constraint?

Their interviews are just similar to LC Medium just that they carefully divide it into 2-3 steps. Interviewer didn't really help me so the 'pair programming' is just a branding of the same old interview process. One of the questions I was asked in the second interview had tedious 2d matrix operations which I don't think tests anything and not suitable for a phone interview.
