How do you respond to recruiters who contact you about jobs way above your pay grade?
Currently a senior engineer at Dropbox. I just had a recruiter reach out to me about heading a department at a major financial company. I have no idea how they decided I was right for this, but I'm pretty sure I'm not qualified at all. Do I just roll with it and talk to the guy as though I'm actually a good candidate for this? 😂 TC 340 #tech #finance #career

They just bulk message everyone on the search result. You will likely be screened out after they really read your resume.
I wouldn't say "likely" but it is possible. Sometimes they just down level

I've also got AWS and Microsoft 365 on my resume, which I assume helps. I get lots of contacts about pre-IPO and lower tier staff and principal jobs. Those at least make sense. This one is... well, I'm inclined to believe the person who said they just blast out messages to everyone. 😂
Entered an interview for later this week for a director role. Recruiter called me today and said “don’t be surprised if he brings up other roles”. Oh boy 🥱

I’m a L5 at Amazon with my 2nd interview on Monday for a Director role with a smaller, but well known brand company. Honestly I thought the recruiter was out of her mind, but the process kept moving forward. In the back of my mind, I know it’s a long shot, but I’m not one to shy away from a challenge.
