What is HR role in a company?

In my company it just seem if the ceo and Vp pushes down something HR will just push it on the work place. Everyone in the office does not trust HR nor talk to them about anything. The company retention is way low. The average life span is 2 yrs.

  • HR’s sole function is to manage human resources. This means they work in the best interest of the business, not the resource they’re in charge of managing. They help business decide on how to leverage a resource at lowest possible cost/liability. Their job is to literally protect the business. For some reason ppl see ‘human’ in the title and assume HR is their friend, cause they too are human...

    To advise the company on HR Guidelines and Procedures and carry out those guidelines. They also work to help move talent within an org and Work as a consultative party for business leaders. They help guide employees careers in many ways. Many are not “fans” of HR because they have to enforce policy and procedure - that’s why they are there.

    • Those are your opinions. They may very well be correct, but they’re *your*. If SLT decides on a course of action you don’t agree w, it becomes your pov vs theirs. You can go & challenge their positions & try to prove that your POV is the correct one. When that happens, you can be CEO & HR will create processes that you want.

      Also, keep in mind that bad HR is a liability to the company & asset to the human resource being managed, should you try to sue them for something...

    Every week some one quits or gets fired. Is that good morale or bad? As I said avg retention is 2 yrs here since things are not flexible. The only thing they try to save people from leaving is change their title but that about it. What left of my team was like half

      As unhappy with a lot of things upper management has oppress us with. We do try to make the best of it. One of them is just collecting the check.
