I have 2 years experience as DevOps/SRE currently making $118k with $10k bonus but very unhappy with the work. One remote offer coming in at $125k/year plus $20k bonus, other potential is $110k/year with $15k bonus but eventually work in office.
First company did two 40 minute interviews and said offer coming in, large, multi-national company, fully remote. Next company (small team, 30ish engineers) said 3 hour initial interview plus 90 minute technical round. I’m not used to such a long interview format, have interviewed several other places for DevOps/cloud infrastructure roles and it was way less involved and it’s bothering me because it’s for such less money. Although I like the idea of eventually being in an office for social aspect.
What does everyone think? I’m really considering just cancelling the 4.5 hour long interview because I do not want to take a pay cut and it seems over the top for such a small company. I’m new to the industry though and don’t know if this is the norm. Btw I live in Orange County California. I
