How is the demand for cloud engineer/ infrastructure engineer in Gaming industry?

  • High but most companies pay badly. Try Epic or maybe Riot. Activision pays crap.

  • xCloud just went through a big growth phase with one or two open spots still being searched for. Microsoft pay, so you get much better comp than a lot of the gaming industry. Applies to any Xbox team. Xbox Live is also going through a hiring boom now/soon.

    • +1 was just about to suggest xcloud as an area with cloud/infra domain knowledge and gaming application. Definitely want to move here after a bit so I can work on gaming tangential space

  • Outside of gaming very high , I have 3 years of devops / sre experience and am getting paid a little more than 100k. I like my job, I wish I could get paid more but I’m happy seeing my work impact the games we produce.
