Planet granite is amazing. Assuming it’s still a climbing gym (even with the name change) — it’s the best routes in the Bay Area. I used to climb here from 2014 - pre pandemic and it was always such a good experience with good vibes. I made some friends over climbing here, and the community is great.

The not so great part — didn’t explore the other parts of the gym, the equipment and the classes. Evenings after 530-8 always used to be super busy and packed. When it’s packed, you run into a$$holes who won’t wait for you to finish a route, climb dangerously close to you and overall disregard any courtesy whatsoever.

It's priced reasonably so I can imagine if everyone wants to storm. Which is unfortunate since they don't cap the entry. I'm not sure if it's safe now given that every third person I know has COVID.

I go there regularly; and note that there’s a new location now in Santa Clara (in addition to Sunnyvale). The Santa Clara location is for bouldering only so there’s been a good bit of automatic crowd balance across the two.

Planet Granite was awesome. I used to climb there back in 2008/2009 or thereabouts. Probably until 2011. I also attended their group yoga classes and they were a solid workout. They used get crowded fast. Not sure what the situation is now. If they just changed the name and nothing else, then it should still be awesome. However, crowd in the Bay Area has increased exponentially since 2008 so I don't know how crowded it would get.

I used to go there from 2019-2021. It sucked for me because I boulder. The routes were rarely changed and were pretty linear. Seeing how there’s no competition here, it’s our only choice for indoor climbing.
