Does Intel still look good on resume? Worth making a switch for better salary+experience? Or just do internal transfer?

If doing internal transfer, would probably not get any raise. Would have to keep interviewing and get an offer and have the new team match it which won't be a good look on a new team member.

I believe AMD is a better employer. I felt this 7 years ago when I joined. And I feel this even more so today. We have a better work culture, more growth and better products than Intel for the next 2-3 years at least.

That being said, it's imperative that you get out and interview. My growth from 100k to 200k TC took 6 years. That's an awfully long time. And that became possible because I got an offer and thus a bump (not a match) last year. I wish I'd switched or at least interviewed sooner. Don't make the same mistake.

If you have been for 3 + years at Intel it doesn't matter if you changed teams internally and keep looking outside . But if you change internally don't expect a promotion anytime soon. Change it only if your team is too toxic, absolutely not your intended career.

It takes long time for a ship with huge surface area to sink, probably longer than the time you and I will be working. Look at IBM. But yes, AMD is doing well.
