Google Team Matching: Career Implications of Joining Unconventional Team / Product
I'm in team matching @ Google right now, and one team that seems interesting to me develops a product for GCP customers to use on-prem. It seems interesting to me.
OTOH, the engineering experience is unconventional compared to other Google product teams, b/c instead of building something that runs on Google's production stack, you're building something that will run in a customer's data center.
Would anyone have any concerns about that? I.e., would you worry that working on a team that doesn't work in Google's usual stack (from version control, code review, deployment, what compute platform your code ends up running on) would limit your professional development as an engineer w/in Google?
Or does it make no difference in the long run?
