Hello good people of Blind! I’m a graduate of class of 2020 and also an analyst at an early stage VC firm. I fell in love with product management in August and decided to pursue it by taking a Udacity Nanodegree. I have completed two projects so far to show evidence of work and I'm currently looking for opportunities to put my learnings into use. I've applied to APM positions at FAANG to no success. Since I'm based in Africa, I'd be open to any local, remote and even international positions at big tech or startups. I’d appreciate any advice, mentorship, or referrals that you’re willing to provide. Happy to chat too😁! Thank you in advance! P.S: I'm out of DMs for the month. Please be kind to dm me, thanks. #google #stripe #facebook #adobe #netflix #microsoft #amazon #uber #lyft #bloomberg #datadog #dropbox #spotify #palantir #airbnb #twitch #waymo #Apple #Twitter #Brex #Snowflake #Lyft #Twilio #SquareSpace #Slack #Plaid #Splunk #Robinhood #Nvidia #Stripe #DropBox #VMware #Box #Cruise #Waymo #Tesla #Reddit #Oracle #LinkedIn #Notion #ScaleAI #airtable #databricks #salesforce #square #plaid #zoom #referral #newgrad #jobhunt #hiring #engineering #swe #software #pm #ux #ui #management #productmanagement #product #productmanager
Stay in VC for a while in case you want to get back in. A lot easier to become a PM than enter VC world.
Hi, the thing with my current position is that it is very unstructured and most of the time I'm self-learning. There's no mentor to put me through. Also, the pay isn't the best really and i don't have carry or other great terms I'm here building my network and learning more about other industries.
Mentorship comes through your network, and PM will be no different. If you are sure PM is your passion by all means go for it but consider the long term paths of both. Fresh grad positions tend to suck wherever you go, and you certainly won’t be getting carry this early but you could in a few years
