I’m interviewing with a Series B startup that’s well funded ($150M) for a lead product manager role. They’re asking me for salary expectations. I tried to dodge the question but they said we don’t want to waste your or our time if we go through the process and realize your expectations were largely off than what we can offer. My expectations are $230k-$270k cash and $600k RSUs over 4 years. At this stage, what does a series b startup generally pay lead PMs? Should I share the above expectations or should I keep making him run in circles?
Is your background is software engineering?
Nope. Product Management and Product Analytics.
your expectations are bad. no series B is giving RSU. it doesn’t translate to options. 250 cash is reasonable and you should tell them that and leave equity open
What’s a lead product manager ? Just a generic title or is it director or vp ?
Not director/vp. Just one level above Senior PM. Director is above Lead PM.
It’s more like a Principal Product Manager role.
