Just scheduled my virtual onsite at G. I got four links to what I thought were going to be Google docs, but they look to be on a site actually designed for a coding interview. It wouldn’t let me in to see yet because the interviewer needs to start the interview, but it definitely didn’t look like Google docs!
Does Google now use some internal coding pad tool for coding interviews??
And does it now allow you to compile or is it still just like whiteboarding?
What about syntax highlighting?
All I really hope is that it doesn’t autocaps or set tab to 8 spaces.

Injust interviewed on Thursday so let me jump in here. It's definely based on Google docs engine. But it has syntax highlighting for different languages similar to leetcode. No word completion tho. And you don't have to compile or run. According to what my interviewer said it saves each typo to see the code writing process of the individual. Tho i would still copy paste the code if I make any updates to it. Any other questions?

Its just google docs or something similar. Nothing special except you need access to it and the interviewer can close it afterwards. No syntax support, no autocaps or anything.
I gave the interview day before yesterday.
Also, If your interview is also for 45 minutes, just type things faster and complete as much as possible

Well when I say syntax highlighting, it's as much as what leetcode has. It won't recognize list methods and stuff but it will recognize keywords like for and if and also will catch indentations

I did in Javascript and didn't remember having any syntax highlighting. Are you sure?
