Team lead TC at Embark Trucks

Embark Trucks (self-driving) recruiter reached out for a Team-lead/ "Head" role on M/L. Role is to hire and build/expand an Data/ML team,
with the stocks down after IPO, what is the expected TC?

Levels doesn't have much, a few L4/L5, do they even hire at M1/M2 levels?
Is it worth the risk?
(willing to take the risk for 100k+, work seems interesting, M3 is impossible/far far away at current job)
Do self-driving even pay close to FANG?

Current TC: 650+ (FAANG Manager-2)
YOE: 14+

  • Stock recovery in general in automotive will take few years at best to even consider. Stay at FAANG if you are doing impactful work. Consumer tech bounces back way quicker in stock market, and has more mobility. You may be taking a downgrade in your marketability.

    Team lead and Head are two different titles in most companies. Head = minimum director leading multiple teams. Sounds like not for this role.

    Also ask who you will report to and go through their track record on LinkedIn. Smaller startups have inflated titles and grandfathered folks who were at the right place at right time, promoted too quick. Most autonomous driving companies have suffered from this.
