Iโ€™m a junior in uni majoring in cybersecurity. got internship offers from Expedia (seattle) and Palo Alto Networks (bay area). Expedia pays more but im more concerned about potential job growth than salary. leaning torwards palo but wanted to see what others think?

Expedia is better on resume, Iโ€™ve been in tech for 10 years and have not heard Altoโ€™s name.. maybe Iโ€™m in my own bubble?!

Every software engineer need to have a good foundation of security engineering and need to pay a good attention to it. I hope engineers of top company like Facebook care more about it.

    • Yes I think it is on our minds but we donโ€™t interact with hires from PAN because security is not our focus and we can be secure without focusing all our effort of security. Would imagine front end at Netflix is quite similar

  • We certainly have security teams but this area is "core" for palo alto, right? If so, wouldn't you want to go where your specialty is a focus?

Congrats! Yo - how did you find the internships bro? I am a junior and majoring in cyber, too. It's hard to get an internship bro. Though I just received an email from Palo Alto Networks to learn more about the opportunity - do you care to share your experience with me, my good friend? Not the questions, just the process! Thank you, my man!!!

thanks man! I probably applied to nearly a 100-200 places and I started early, around mid September/October. I got contacted by a recruiter for a brief video call, which was mostly behavioral/getting to know me and then they moved me forward to another final video interview with the team. It was a mixture of technical/behavioral, mostly asking me the details of my past internships and projects. I got the offer the next day. the process took about 2 weeks.
good luck, lmk if you have any more questions!
