10 years ago, I did software consulting for a "big 5" firm. Loved the lifestyle, constant challenge from solving different problems every six months. Salaries back then weren't much, compared to faang salaries today. But I miss the excitement.
Wondering if someone can educate me on the software consulting opportunities available out there today and what's the pay like.
Do most consulting opportunities revolve around specific skill sets or are generalist software engineers welcome?
Is age a factor, i.e are older candidates expected to apply for managerial positions only or are they valued for technical contributions alone? I am thinking of the long term prospects of this career path.
