Everyday there's a new post about Google downleveling, losing their innovative edge, lowering their hiring bar to get butts in seats, etc. Why does Blind have such a negative outlook on Google? I don't really see that anywhere but here.

At least FB/Uber/Amazon/Microsoft/Salesforce/Oracle ask popular LC questions that can be easily mugged up 2 weeks before.
Google asks fucking unseen LC medium-hards and downlevels/lowballs.
The ROI for the amount of preparation it requires is what pisses people off.
Engineers are jealous of 2013 Google. As soon as they realize that 2021 Google is just glorified Adobe with freefood, the jealousy goes away.
It's like realizing that Bill Nye is a gigantic a-hole in person (true story btw).
It's not about being measured against a bar, it's about meeting basic standards for professionalism. I've been turned down by companies I still respect and I've turned down offers from hiring managers I still have good relationships with. I just expected better (in terms of organization, execution, and common courtesy) from Google than the missteps I observed during their mid- and late-stage hiring processes.
