South Korea has Covid outbreak with recent daily cases around 300-600K. Wondering what changed there as they had Covid under control in last 2 years.

Let's pray for people of South Korea 🙏.

As we can observe, vaccination is useless. Covid will get you and spread no matter what. Having said that, there is no reason to lock down, close businesses, wear masks or anything similar. Pretty sure South Korea has never really had the virus “under control” given that they have that many daily cases today.

    No herd immunity

  • Korean here. Everyone is already triple vaccinated and tired of physical distancing, so the government decided to lift many of the restrictions.

    • The mask mandates are still here, but a lot of other restrictions are already lifted (eg. Number of people allowed to gather, international travel, etc). Despite the cases, they are opening up further as everyone is already fully vaccinated.

Yea as none of the current vaccine work against Omni. Thing are bound to get bad before they get better. Hopefully this will be over soon.

People need to watch Dr. John Campbell’s YouTube channel, he’s been spot on in relaying information (not attempting to predict trends but describe them properly) since the start of this.

He talked about this happening almost a month ago.

You cannot compare China and SK with the likes of the SA, UK, and US. They were both EXTREMELY good at testing, tracing, and lock downs. But that also meant there was less need to for vaccination programs and exponentially less people exposed to the virus, particularly delta.

While that’s a good thing, it’s also a double bladed sword. Most western news outlets will go against literally the entire history immunology, and say “no such thing as naturally induced antibodies”, this kind of thinking is bullshit.

Most Americans are either double vaxxed, triple vaxxed, or have been exposed to omicron. There is literally no avoiding omicron at some point in these countries.

So while herd immunity is not truly possible with mutations abounding, it does reduce the likelihood of another wave of the same kind of variant.

All the above is regurgitated information I’ve taken from dr. Campbell who is simply interpreting valid data.
