I’m looking to get out of the defense industry and into web development. My background is full stack web with more focus on backend Python dev. I had callbacks from Walmart Labs but didn’t get passed the phone technical because they’re looking for staff level. I failed my Qcom onsite because I’m not strong as an embedded engineer. I checked out ServiceNow/Intuit and other companies and their posting seems to desire Java stack or senior (5+ years) level engineers and I don’t think my resume will get passed the filters. I’m currently talking to AWS Seattle because at this point, I’m sorta thinking I just have to take what I can get and if I have to move, then start mass applying to Seattle/SF/Irvine. But for the next couple of years, I’d like to stay in San Diego which is why I’m looking locally. Where is a good place I can try to get into that is taking mid level software engineers in SD that isn’t defense? Should I just start spending my time making a Java web app so I can slap all those Java stack keywords on my resume?
Servicenow should be a good fit if you’re motivated
Yeah, I’m pretty motivated right now. I’ll probably go ahead and apply to their open senior positions and see how it goes. How is their interview process?
It should be some leetcode question and domain specific knowledge, with maybe system design. But simpler than what you’d get in a FANG interview

I work at ServiceNow in the San Diego office and can highly recommend it.

I got a hit from a recruiter for a Data Engineering role but I don’t think the HM is interested because I never got a call back.
