2 more google interviews to uplevel?

Google HC cleared me for l3 but they said if I pass two more interviews I can get l4 but they said I may lose the offer if I don’t do good on those two interviews. So I am kind of nervous about going for it.

Anybody ever do the up level interviews? Is it true I can lose the offer or is the recruiter trying to make me scared?

    Take the top band at L3 and join. Don’t risk your offer as you might be put into a new hiring committee which might totally reject you.

    L3- to L4 promo is much easier than it used to be, but it still takes time.

    It all depends on what you want to do - if you want to maximize TC you should ask for uplevel interview and go get a bunch of competing offers.

    200k for an L3 is a decent offer, but you are way under leveled, and if you get an L5 equivalent offer somewhere else you could get 400k.

    That being said, I like Google, and it seems to have a lot more job security and mobility than other companies. Its pretty competitive to get in, and I'd you just skated by so far, you might not make it next time.

    I think it's worth for two main reasons. 1) headcount for l3 engineers are low so if you arent team matched already, you will be in TM limbo for months, l4 has better head count (not great tho).
    2) you have 7yoe, which should put you on l4/l5 band. If your tc is already 200, google offer for l3 won't be better than that

      L3 will definitely be higher than 200 for a downlevel L3 with an existing TC of 200

      I already got team matched and the hiring manager recommended the two interviews. Current tc is 100k. So 200k is much better anyways.

    Well I interviewed for L4 and got one strong hire and two down level recommendations and one no hire(just shows how random the interview process is). Recruiter told me that he can send it to the hiring committee and see but chances were low and world still only get L3 at best. Hiring committee rejected completely though.
