On Friday, December 20th I was scheduled to have an onsite interview at Microsoft. I love the team and their product so I was super excited about the opportunity. I'm aware that the interview was right the Friday before the holidays and even some of the people that were listed to interview me didn't show up. So it was a bit chaotic. Long story short, I did the best I could, I had a great time and fun working on the scenario case given, but 2 weeks of silence have passed and no word from them. Yesterday, I emailed both the recruiter and the hiring manager, but nothing yet. After talking to some of my friends working there, they told me that one reason could be that the HR manager might still on vacation, but what do you guys think? This was for a manager position high level. Any clues if I should be expecting an offer or rejection?
Your friend might be right.
I think you’re friends could be right. Response time is very slow in holidays. Good luck
We cannot say if you would get an offer or rejection but since its been a holiday season, you can expect a response by next week. Most of the ppl will be back from vacation by Monday. All the best
I went for onsite and was notified 2 weeks later (even though they promised a wait of max 1 week), and this was not even during the holiday period.
Did you receive the offer?
Yep :) (although if MSFT has a “waitlist” or something for a req then I suspect I was on this list, as my performance was good, but I did miss a few more arcane questions. Position was applied scientist)
I interviewed on the 13th and just about getting the offer. So expect to hear back end of next week or so... good luck.
It was Holiday after your on site interview, why don't you give MSFT folks a break? Good luck anyways.
Its vacation time. You sent the follow up email. Give them another week or so to respond.
Interviewed first week of December, received offer this week. I guess will join next year, so, welcome to Microsoft
Hey can I dm you reg Microsoft on-site?
Sure
Probably its on positive note. They do debrief after each interview and if candidate is not upto mark they dont proceed any further to complete the entire loop. So completing full interview loop is a positive sign and they do notify quick for rejections (atleast in my case). I will definitely wait for atleast couple of days before follow up due to holiday break.

Chances are, after your interview, everyone went on their vacation and have not come back. One thing you have to understand about Microsoft: this is a parents friendly company. Many are parents, and their return to the office is around the day kids return to school. You probably won't hear back until next week at the earliest (mid-Jan is more likely).
Went on vacation and forgot to set ""Auto reply"?
Many folks on product teams (not sales/dev rel/other external facing roles) I know sometimes only set up auto reply for internals because they usually list other internal contacts in their absence; which you may not want to expose to external contacts.
