I have ~1.5 million in equity with one of the companies that will ipo in 2019. My plan is to sell everything averaged over a couple of months and buy target date funds. What should I keep in mind when doing this? Also, I have since moved from CA to an even higher income tax city. Is it worth moving to Seattle for the no income tax? Am I still in diy territory or do I need professional help? What type of help? Anything else I should know?
Will that 1.5 instantly vest? Sometimes they are spread across 4 years, so this year you may only get 150k, and it increases annually.
Hookers and blow, my friend. Hookers and blow.
It depends on the type of equity instrument you hold. ISO vs NQSO vs RSU etc
Where the hell did you move to that is taxed even higher than CA? New York? Honolulu? Caracas? Trondheim? Paris?
By the time it hits IPO, it might worth probably half of that 1.5M so plan accordingly.
You mean lockup
You don’t need the full lockup period for the share to drop 50%
“Will IPO in XYZ”. I wouldn’t be so certain.
