Evaluating a 150k salary / 60k (annualized) FB offer Have seen engineer friends similar to me have 60k+ on this at other companies. Curious how this compares. Obviously, yoe isn't the best hueristic so hard to say I know, fwiw I did exceptional on the coding but not that great on the design -- was a bit thrown. Other offers have around the same base and illiquid options at non name brands. Waiting to hear back from other top companies i.e. amazon
Any signing bonus?
Nope
2 yoe and evaluating 150k lol, I love it.
Nobody is getting 270k being that green unless it’s a unicorn throwing around ridiculous equity.
I've seen it. I also come from a prior eng field. In some instances I've been the lead for projects with Sr engs with multiple times my exp. I'm underwhelmed by the yoe hueristic. More impressed when people have deliberate practice methodologies in place to actually grow real skill. Reading white papers, getting your hands dirty, periodic review, spaced repetition, assessing and focusing on your weak areas and looking for experts to mentor you in specific areas. People who do that condense years of someone else's yoe
