YOE: 3-4.
I like Google for the incredible work life balance, the super friendly people, enjoyable culture, amazing food, and the fact that small projects already affect tens of millions of people.
I dislike: Current work is not that interesting. Feeling like I hit a dead end for a while. It's either switching teams or switching companies. Compensation is also not the best. Career growth is also not that fast compared to smaller startups.
Hedge fund: Everyone says really bad WLB, but they make lots of $$. Not sure if it's worth it. On paper, what they're selling me sounds like more responsibility and more impact. Plus I always think that if they pay more I gotta deliver more than at Google so they will be pushing me to be a better engineer (at least, that's the theory).
Total comp at hedge fund is around 260K base and 140K target bonus. I have no idea how much variance there is to the bonus. If people are gonna tell me average bonus is 3x the target that makes a huge difference.
