I’m a new grad with master degree and will graduate next year. Recently got several full time offers and I’m deciding between salesforce and stripe. I don’t know which team I will be joining and Stripe promised to give team matching based on our preference. I put career growth on the top priority as well as happiness lol and I will also need green card and sponsorship. Please share any constructive advice on choosing between these two offers. Really appreciate it!!🙏

Salesforce MTS:
- 158k base + 110k over 4 yr RSU + 10% bonus + 38k relo/signon
- location: San Francisco

Stripe IC1:
- 134k base + 77k equity recurring every year + 10% target bonus (not sure if most of ppl will get this) + 50k sign on first year + 20k signon second year + 10k relocation
- location: Seattle

    Salesforce.
I hear Stripe WLB sucks, if happiness is important Salesforce would be a nice place to start.

  • You are unlikely to get a RSU refresh at Salesforce at least for the first two years. The stock is already pretty healthy, growth might not be stellar. Purely based on comp, Stripe seems the clear winner, on paper.

Now, since Stripe is growing rapidly, I suspect it might seem a little too chaotic for a fresh grad as teams are created/re-orged. They may also be defining and refining a lot of processes as it is a fast growing startup. Salesforce on the other hand might have a little more mature processes, although re-orgs are quite common depending on the group you join.

Since you don’t know which team you will be joining at Salesforce, given your other offer, Stripe seems to be a better choice.

However, I couldn’t say what the immigration process would look like for Stripe, it is pretty good at Salesforce, so if you have an H1B, you should expect to get an I140 approved within 2 years, so you may explore other opportunities. If you don’t have an H1B or any other visa yet (non OPT), it makes sense to join Stripe from the beginning, so you don’t get stuck waiting at a company you are not too excited about until you get through the H1 lottery or have your green card approved.

    All the best!

  • As a new grad .. go join Stripe ..no brainer .. yes your wlb might be bad but your resume will be soo much better .. and once you are ready to retire, come join Salesforce. All folks I see sticking around in Salesforce have made enough money in other companies that they can come and coast with great wlb.

  • Go to Stripe for the growth.

  • Stripe seems like the better deal due to CoL as well as bonus and rsu structure.

Salesforce might be better if you want to move somewhere else within 2y. Bay Area networking can’t be beat. And is generally more chill.
