Hey Blinders, who recently moved to US from India via their employer or external. Would you mind calling out the jump in your TC. Is it worth it? What visa you are currently on?
TC : 50L INR to 150K USD (Sunnyvale)

I moved to US mainly because I couldn't secure a good, high-paying job in India and didn't have good academic credentials (not from IIT/NIT). So MS in US was the best I could do to break out of that loop. I would never understand why a highly paid individual in a low COL place would move to US. If broader quality of life, and infrastructure is something that you're after, go to countries with free healthcare, free college, better old-age support, quality work-life balance, negligible gun violence, less travel time to home country, relatively lenient immigration policies for you and your family, more prounuced culture etc.

    Edit: 13 lpa to 200K

OP asked for salary jump experience for "people who recently moved from India to US either through internal transfer OR external" and OP's title asks if the move was worth it (maybe they're asking from a financial standpoint or otherwise). I answered that. And also added my opinion on the move in general and details on my specific circumstances.

  • Get married and come. Your wife will be happy, tc will increase, bay area opportunities unlike anywhere in the world. Also depends on family situation - are you only child, parents health etc. Money can't compensate the finer things in life.

OP - this is your personal decision. If you want a change or experience something new, go for it. Money will come and go. Who cares? You can always find a better paying job. There's more than just TC.

As a white collar employee, you should have more than enough for retirement anywhere in the world. Your experiences on the other hand will be invaluable.
