Has anyone ever contracted at Google before as a software engineer? If so, how different is it from being a full time employee there? Is the interview processor the same? Is it easier to convert to full time after the contract ends? If converted, does the salary given meet the range in a certain band?

That's what I suspected. Better to interview for the full time position

It depends on what you mean by the contractor. If it’s a consultant role with a unique expertise, the pay can be very generous. On the other hand, if it’s just working for one of bodyshops, then they pay peanuts

That’s true. I have worked as a consultant for Google years back to help setup one of their new product lines. The hourly rate was pretty generous (north of $600).

I did not experience rasicm while contracting due to badge color. Its been ok and ur rate is too good. Dont think they give those rates now.

And you will encounter racism (not due to your skin color but due to your badge color)
