I worked as a developer in Salesforce platform for last 7 years in different software consulting companies. It is a good technology and pays well. But developing in Salesforce platform feels very limited and growth is limited. I am thinking about becoming a regular software engineer and trying for senior software engineer roles in FANG companies. Does this move make sense? Does my 7 year development experience in Salesforce platform help me in any way to go to a more senior role in FANG companies directly?

I have 3years of work ex as Salesforce Developer. I worked in India for Accenture, Salesforce.
I’m currently pursuing Masters in US in a Data Analytics focused program.
I’m confused if I should take Data Analytics/Science career path or Software Engineering/Development path or Salesforce Developer path?
My previous work ex in Salesforce will help me to land mid level/senior positions in Salesforce Development career. If I go for Software Engineer/Developer or Data career, I should start New grad/Entry level opportunities.
But again, if I have to take Software Engineering or Data related career path, I can do that only in the next 1 year before I graduate, because once I start working, it is almost impossible to switch domains.
I like Salesforce Development. I came for a masters degree to explore Data Analytics/Science and software engineering.
Both careers are rewarding.
But I have to decide which path to take in the next few months. I just don’t want to regret later and would like to hear any opinions and experiences who have been in similar situations.
