Hey Seattleites,

Moving to Seattle soon. Have noticed that the rental prices in West Seattle are significantly lower than mainland e.g. you can comfortably get a 2*2 for $2500 with ocean view etc.
Besides the bridge closure, is there any red flags for that area? Checked crime rate and transit access didn't find anything too negative.

Thanks!

if you have a car it's going to be a turd to get anywhere outside of west Seattle until the bridge is fixed. if you don't plan on driving and are okay bus everywhere I guess it's fine.

Nice quiet area, but wasn't for me. I moved downtown after a couple years

Commuting from West Seattle is not bad once the bridge actually opens. Parts of Belltown/Downtown are very easy and you can get from West Seattle to Downtown/SLU in 20-25 mins again, once the bridge is open.

The commute sucks now but it’ll be fixed by summer so if you’re not moving till July might still be an option.

I enjoy Alki area for hanging out but I wouldn’t live that close to the beach as it can get busy and sketch sometimes.
