First of all im not smart.. im normal software enginner who would struggle given medium / medium hard problem..

Im trying to start interviewing soon and my sucess solely depends on if I have seen those problems /Type before.

Do you guys think 315 is good number to start?

You can do the first 1000 LC problem and on the interview if they ask you LC #1001 you fail, all that time wasted. No offer. It’s about how you think through a problem, how clean your code is, can it be extended as the problem changes, is it easily testable, how quick are you to find bugs prior to hitting “execute”, how are you able to come up with test cases, can you clarify requirements.

I’d rather have a candidate give a working brute force solution using proper coding and testing techniques rather than a hacked together half working esoteric dynamic programming approach. In this sense you don’t to know all the patterns, just need to know how to code. I’m picturing myself as your code reviewer. If it’s a mess you fail.

And I’d prefer a candidate give me anything other than a regurgitation of a leetcode solution they have memorized.

If you go past 50 you have already done too many. Learn and internalize the concepts first. Then start doing leetcodes. 10-15 easy, 30 med, and maybe 5 hards and start interviewing.

If you are doing more than that you are wasting your time.

i feel like 200 LC is pretty sufficient these days.

  • There is no number. Can you solve lc med/hard or not? That's the only relevant question
