Am I underpaid and dumb for staying at my current company?

I took a UX course at general assembly 5 1/2 years ago. After graduating, I accepted an offer as an interaction designer for 58k. After 2 years I got a title bump to SR. Interaction designer. I’m currently 5 years in and my base is 114k. I also do way more than just interaction design. I should have a UX designer title. My confidence is low because I’ve been at the same company for all these years and have had no design leadership to help me grow. I feel like I’m stunting my growth and could be making more money.

  • Underpaid? No - 114k is a good salary regardless of what everyone on blind will say.

    No advice since I’m not in your field but going from 58k - 114k in 5 years is an amazing achievement! Especially since I assume you had no formal education in UX (given that you went to GA)

    Like others said, 114k is a good salary for your experience. You mentioned not having design leadership...are you the only designer?

      2 other designers. One JR level, the other mid level. They’re new hires within the last year. We currently report to different product managers who have no design background. Before that it’s been me for the most part. Some designers have come and gone quickly. I’ve had 8 bosses in the past two years, only one was an actual designer.

      If you're managing ux and design alone on a project, you are likely doing end to end ux design and not giving yourself enough credit.

    lol.. UX designer 5 year expr and 114K Base.. is way over paid in my understanding, isn't ??

    Someone in Apple may be different but apart from Apple, and few here and there I dont think UX guys should set very high expectations!!
