Is it though? Do bonds ever beat growth in the long-run? If you're close to retiring and using the 401k they make sense. Otherwise, I think it's best to stay in growth. Or even better, buy the dip.

Over the long run, the market has and will beat bond returns. So why move to bonds for money you’ll be pulling out in 40 years

Another thread about timing the market... and your TC tells me you are at least 20 years away from retirement ... So yawn.

How can you infer this person is 20 years from retiring with a $200,000 per year job.

      1. TC of 220k from Apple - a remote unfriendly company. So they are very likely in a HCOL area. So that TC is on the starter end of things. So a youngling.
      2. Their comment about "401k to bonds" shows financial ignorance. So an inexperienced person. This also means their 401k has very little bonds currently, which is indicative of an aggressive portfolio (self managed likely) which means they are at the head end of the retirement journey.
      3. Also that commeny likely is coming from never have seen/lived thru a recession in the past (or only heard of it). So a youngling.

You can only buy 10k of I bonds annually. So not a huge risk anyways. I’m gonna put it in soon
