    Statistical Rethinking by Richard McElreath

You likely already know the material but have never had it presented like this before. It’s a very very enjoyable read.

Yes. Right now I’m interviewing, but until now I had co-founder level equity in a startup that could barely afford 🥜 for salaries, and sometimes not even that. I’ve come to the conclusion recently that the technology works well enough for explosive growth, we just don’t have the management team to do that. It’s sad because I really poured years of my life into this tech, but eventually you have to cut your losses and admit that you can’t live any longer without basic things like health insurance and getting paid every month.

Introduction to Statistical Learning by James, Witten, Hastie, and Tibshirani.

Absolutely a classic AND now there’s a second edition with some cool additions!

You’re right actually I was thinking about Elements. I get them mixed up a lot.

Always worth reading the first four chapters of ESL thoroughly, even if it takes time. ISL is good enough for certain kinds of DS roles, but not for applied science type roles.

Some pop books I like for critical thinking: Thinking Fast and Slow, How Not to Be Wrong, Scout Mindset. Good to listen to at the gym

Absolutely any book by Edward Tufte for visualization. Truly a visionary (pun intended) in the field that is still unmatched.
