When a recruiter from average company approaches you with a job similar or less better than you currently have, what do you do?

I am not interested in lateral move so I can choose to just ignore the LI InMails. But I learnt that recruiters have a quota of (30?) InMails on LinkedIn per month which gets used up if they don’t get any reply. So now I just make a point to decline so my InMail doesn’t get counted towards their quota which they can use to reach out someone else who may need that job. That’s the least I can do.

    • Is that how it works? I thought it only gets used IF you reply either way?

Why they limit them? Do they use free version or LinkedIn is unfriendly?

Depends on your goal. I am at an average company and my goal is to get into FAANG. I am not looking at any other opportunity outside FAANG, so I’ll reject recruiters. But maybe someone else is not interested in FAANG as much so they would be happy to hear more.

I almost always listen. If the job isn't something I'm into I'll interview and just ask for a big salary. You never know
