Hundreds of Meta vs. Google discussions for SWE but not for Marketing/Sales!

I'm in the interview process at both right now - Meta for Growth Marketing Manager and Google for Account Strategist. From what I understand they're more or less the same sort of role, though I admit I still don't fully understand what the Growth Marketing Manager role entails. The salaries seem mostly in line.

What I'm most interested in is:
- What do you actually do on a day to day basis? How many hours in calls with clients? How many hours in calls with your team? How many hours in platform?
- How driven are the sales goals? How ambitious/stressed are your team members/managers?
- Any office life differences I should be aware of? I know Google is 3 days in the office currently, and Meta is offering 100% remote (though I would like to go to the office if I want to). I'd be working out of the NYC offices for both.
- To be perfectly frank: I'm looking for the job that will give me the biggest bag for the least amount of work (I'm through with career grinding). I'll obviously put in the work that's needed but I'm a bit over the "get noticed and rewarded for going above and beyond" bs. Is either role suited for this? Should I just not bother with either job? I know it's counterintuitive to go for a sales-type role with this mindset but even the base salary is enticing for me.

The unicorn person I'd want to talk to would have worked in both roles/companies but I know that's probably rare. Feel free to chime in if you've worked at either!

YOE? Just curious. Have you ever interviewed with either company and if so, what roles? AS at Google is sales for sure, but I don’t think there’s any prospecting involved. GMM is more performance marketing internally for the company, I think.

Oh wow - looks like I didn’t get past the screening interviewers, although one of them was an AS. Maybe process changed by then? It was like 6 months ago.

I made it to onsites at meta. Applied via referral and had 4 on-site interviews in one day. No offer.

Google did tell me the interview process changed since two years ago, but I don't know when. My next step after my recruiter call is still to speak to some members of the "broader GCS team", and it's still ungodly slow, they have yet to even schedule them and my recruiter call was a week ago. Submitted availability twice now.

Did you interview for a Growth Marketing role at Meta? How many "employee screens" did you do before the onsite, and how long did you need to wait before going to the onsite? And how long ago was it? Any general questions you can remember? Thanks!

  • How is the Meta Growth Mktg Mgr role a sales role? That tends to sit under performance marketing. Is it just a title difference there but the job is more sales focused?

From what I understand the GMM role is both a lead gen and a client sales role for Facebook marketing - finding small business that are just starting to use the platform, then consulting with them with the long term goal of getting them to keep using the platform. Though, I'm still a bit unsure of exactly what you do on a daily basis in that role - A few things that I've read say you can lean towards project management or analysis.

I forgot to mention, both would be for the small business teams.
