Apart from legacy tech, what other factors do you think as cons of working for a bank.
I’m about to start my new job for platform Engineering role at an Indian bank so just wanted to make sure if I’m making a right decision?
Tech stack is Java Microservices , Aerospike DB, Kubernetes, Kafka... which is better than my current one(DotNet).
Yeah I’m not expecting any hike as such. Will jump ship within 18-24 months.
I am a SEP
FinTech startups have just copies the business model of big players and are creating sleek software to disrupt the industry which is already dominated by big players. However, I'm not sure if many of these startups are mature in understanding the long run hurdles in running a FinTech business. There are lots of risks associated with the client's money at stake (compared to usual running of consumer businesses), hence regulations play a major role. So, i would wait and watch how these companies pan out "regulatory" and salability pressure once they become big.
Building domain knowledge is subjective. I have seen people who were in the same domain for 20 years and I have seen people who were new to that space but still showing superior control over others who had more experience. So i don't think you have to stick with one segment always. If something interests you, then you are going to provide more attention to that space compared to something which you don't.
On an average got 10-15% hike over a period of 6 years.
All latest tech stack. If i reveal some specific ones, then it can reveal my identity.
