Facebook remote work in Canada possible?

Offered PE at Facebook HQ, but I'm living in Canada. My recruiter says I have to move to the US in order to start employment and the move has to be "ASAP" (a month after visa is approved). Given the short time span and the COVID situation in both US and Canada, I'm inclined to give up this opportunity but before I do, just curious if anyone in Canada has worked out an arrangement with FB to allow them to work remotely in Canada? Is it even possible?

    If you want to work at fang you better start showing some grit :). Just move to a border City get an apartment for a couple of months start your work. Move back to Canada but keep your days in Canada less than six months for the whole year. Then figure it out after that. The worst case scenario is you have to work out of some nice town in California no snow.

  • You gotta be in the US for the company to be tax compliant.

    Or you can ask for a role in Canada (if it even exists) and have your compensation package trimmed.

      But how do they know which city you are in? If you are working remotely anyway. Assume I took care of visa issue in the first few weeks and move back. And I don't mind paying higher tax

      Company has to pay certain tax contributions to the respective country you work in. You’re basically throwing them under the bus for non compliance

      amazon, as mentioned my recruiter says no, but I'm asking anyone else has dealt with recruiters who says otherwise. Isn't that the point of blind? If you don't know, move on and get back to work lol
