4.5 YOE Finance in Amazon, just turned L6. Salary bump sucks, what's better out there?

Joined Amazon as L4 Financial Analyst fresh from undergrad. Been with the company about 4.5 years and just became L6 Sr. Financial Analyst. The salary bump is very disappointing (only $18K), now TC $140K. Averaging ~60-70hrs per week, worked on 50% weekend for the last 2.5 years, doing the work nobody want. After going through that and only getting $1K incremental per month, feels like a sucker. Am I just an ungrateful person with unreasonable expectation? I strong believe there's a better opportunity out there (or at least better use of my time to get higher incremental $). Feels like need to pivot little bit in my career, would really appreciate any suggestions!

You've given enough of your soul to Amazon. Definitely time for a change.

Everything!

Nothing new. Dont be too naive. You will only get 10 to 15 percent bump for promo. It is better to look elsewhere and you might get 40 percent hike.

lol yes, I would probably 'fuck this shit' if I did a bit research on the promo bump ahead of time.

That comp is what i would expect for an sfa. The hours and weekends youve been burning is on you....you can get same comp at msft for far less hours.

For some reason they were interviewing me at L4, L5 and L6. Different orgs though but I definitely understand where you're coming from. You should go elsewhere. Use Amazon as name brand to bargain. Google is hiring Finance Analyst. Look em up.

What is pay range for google finance analysts?

This post is exactly what I needed. I’m an L5 Financial Analyst right now and have begun applying to business roles where I heard the TC and WLB are better. My skip level manager is trying super hard to keep me on and even brought up a promotion which wouldn’t be effective until 8 months from now and also not guaranteed. I can’t imagine busting my ass for another 6-8 months doing this shit work. I think it’s time to make the move

What kind of business roles? What tc jump are you looking to get moving out of finance?

Amazon PrLb51 Mar 7, 2020

If L6 SFA is going to land me 140k TC, would hope a business role as an L6 Program Manager or L6 Business Analyst would get me a TC around 160 or higher. If not, might make sense to look externally. Any thoughts?
