Does the HC judge diversity candidates differently?

Mar 2 6 Comments

Does the hc see all the details of the candidate like their name, gender, age, other details?

With so many companies having targets to fill positions with x% diversity candidates , does hc take that into account.

It helps to be a diverse candidate yes.

This however is not a lowering of the bar, your diversity doesn’t matter if you’re not a good fit for the job. I’m not aware of any company that would hire someone just for diversity sake. You have to pass the interviews, pass the bar, and be liked by almost everyone.

    • If two candidates passed all interviews and there’s only one position to fill,do you think diversity candidates get an up in such cases !

All else is never equal, if it was, then it may depend on which candidate is more diverse. Even in America, there are teams where a white person is diverse.

In reality, the company would probably hire both. If you want to force me into a single answer, it would depend on their past experiences, and which one more closely resonates with the positions needs. I’m part of many hiring decisions and have never seen diversity be the decisive factor. I have seen it help a candidate, but never be the reason.
