Registrations are out of control. We all know who manipulates the system the most. I hope they never get a GC and they have a backlog for the rest of their life!

Sad reality is they are getting their H1, GC and are having a happy life while on the other hand people who couldn’t trick the system struggle with career breaks or leaving back to their home country.

Denial. OP said people who abuse the system. I assume you got a h1b through a consultancy!

The only reason Indians are backlogged is because India has 17.7% of the worlds population and there is a 7% per country limit for GCs. Indian have to keep renewing their H1Bs and each renewal (which is cap exempt) is counted as a NEW application.

  • Big tech H-1B problems are a recent phenomenon. Most H-1B went to IT engineers at P&G, Chevron or Disney (remember the lawsuit?) and the like. They’ll (and their immigration firms) lobby the heck out of any move that helps big tech and by proxy, ‘better’ engineers.
    Expect no change.

Your examples are from a few years back. Reality is far worse though. Most H1Bs go to companies like TCS, Capgemini, etc. They have terribly low hiring standards. And the influx of Telugu consultants with fake resumes, who can't even speak English and don't know what leetcode is has gone through the roof because of some mindless changes made by USCIS. I agree about the no overhaul is going to take place

    • Ok, we’re on the same page. Most H-1B visas went to “outsourced” IT engineers….
