Who else had this experience...often? How do you get out of it at that moment?

Take a sip from your water bottle or coffee cup. That's what it's there for. Think of something else for 10 seconds. Mmm I need a hair cut. Unfocus from the problem basically, whatever way works for you. Then focus back. Always works for me.

  • I suffered from this severely, to the point where I knew this was a really easy interview question that I could code within 10 mins if not under stress. I just practiced with a lot of companies that I eventually was able to perform at 70%

  • You say "let me think about this",and take a step back. And if your brain is completely fried, you retrace your steps and talk out loud how you got to that points.

The main thing is to keep talking but also actively take short breaks to think. If you talk nonstop you cannot think well, so just tell the interviewer when you are taking a break to think, to take off the pressure.
