Will be joining Meta in few weeks. I have worked both on micro services and monolith services. In general I have seen it is a pain to look for logs in monoliths and digging through code. I heard meta is monolith . How do engineers feel about the tech stack? Is it easy to debug and test without much churn? I like to focus on dev work without thinking much about build time and complex testing scenarios . Happy to discuss through private messages New TC : 500+ first year , E5
Yes, not only a monolith - but all code in one file. Very hard.
I find it funny people like that can get 500k tc 😂😂
Looking for logs is a pain in a monolith? And you say you’ve used micro services?
Meta SD bug
Meta’s existence and entire product line is pain. Exception of 💰
Tech stack here is shit.
Define shit
Means they can't work on it even though I hear 80-90% praise for internal tooling and code atmosphere from most of the engineers in my group
Sooner or later it will go back to where it was, it’s always like that, I don’t like meta but it does have some really good tech and engineers
