Sales force ceo calls Facebook as new cigarettes of our industry

Salesforce (CRM) CEO Marc Benioff used bold language in an interview with “CBS This Morning” when he called Facebook (FB) the “new cigarettes of our industry.”

Yesterday it was Tim Cook(Apple) , today it’s Marc , tomorrow somebody else , why is everyone so pissed off with Facebook ? I understand the data breach issue but never seen direct attacks like this . Against all the odds Facebook stock is doing good , lol

    • why do you cocky facebook guys assume we would want to work there. You just met the guy who has never had an account on facebook. i saw the model when it started with people handing over personal information and knew it would end bad for the users of the platform.

  • Not Facebook to be exact but largely It has definitely changed the social fabric.. the way people communicate, build relationships... not necessarily in the positive way.
We communicate online more than in person. This definitely impacts our ability to create long lasting relationships with people around.
Just my opinion. Not backing CEO because I work there.

  • Cigarette stocks have been large wealth creators for decades.

Facebook is addictive .. so the comparison is apt.

Like cigarette companies Facebook is likely to be an awesome stock.

The best part is any restrictions imposed by government might prevent future competition thus widening Facebook moat :-)
