This idea floating around blind that many, if not most, employees that get hired at Amazon will be put on a PIP / focus plan is nonsense.
Amazon has been hit hard by the “Great Resignation”. People are voluntarily leaving for all sorts of reasons. Almost all orgs are desperate for people, and it doesn’t make any sense for SDM’s to go out of there way to put people on focus/ pip plans.
If there are URA goals (which I don’t think there is), the amount of people leaving voluntarily would more then cover that goal.
With some exceptions, if you’re put on a focus plan there is a good reason and you’re probably under performing. Which will be clearly documented.
Needless to say, this isn’t just an Amazon problem. The whole industry has been hit hard with attrition. That’s partially why Amazon has raised their comp for new hires and have been adding more benefits for internal employees.
