Hi all,
I'm seeing a lot of negative stuff about GCP here. Have offers from both GCP storage team and FB, wonder what the advice would be for somebody with kids and family.
In FB I have an opportunity to pre-allocate with a manager with whom we kind of clicked, in Google/GCP the manager seems nice but nothing special.
Not posting a poll as it seems like Blind in general is biased towards G big time, I'd prefer to hear first hand experience from Googlers.

From what I hear, getting to E6 at FB ia no walk in the park either (infact, sustaining a good E5 level performance might be hard depending on your team / tech leads and manager.)
My advice is to join Facebook if you have the enthusiasm and energy to put in a lot of effort; you have better chances of getting to E6 there than at Google.
On the other hand, if historically you were a slow starter at teams (nothing wrong with it..some people start slow and learn things so well that their impact gets very significant as time goes by), then Google is a LOT better for you. It gives you the breathing room to set your own pace (it's just that if you are super ambitious and move fast, Facebook gives you faster growth than Google)
FB values delivery and impact above anything else (striving for engineering excellence is just a bonus). At Google, while results are important, it's not very black and white. You get a lot more breathing room.
Join Google. You will love it.
(Btw, my spouse works for Facebook. That's how I know)
